The judge of Solomianka district court of Kyiv Oleksandr Bobrovnyk took a recess in the court hearing regarding the preventive measure towards Roman Nasirov, the suspended head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine. Judge reported this during the trial broadcast by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"Nobody knows how long the recess will last. The judge went to jury room," the correspondent informed on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
The court denied the application filed by Nasirov’s lawyers regarding the adjournment. Then the defense demanded questioning of all 9 members of medical board of Strazhesko Institute of Cardiology which examined Nasirov on Saturday.
According to the prosecutor, Nasirov’s lawyers are trying to delay the case this way. The judge supported the position of government prosecution.
Lawyers announced their intent to file request about judge removal. "Defense considers judge’s action biased," lawyer said.
"The judge took a recess to hand the case to another judge," it was informed.
As it is known, the head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine is suspected in abuse of authority and embezzlement of public funds totaling some $74 million. Investigation considers that Nasirov, acting in the interests of MP Onyshchenko, groundlessly provided tax obligations by installments for a number of enterprises in terms of "gas case".
