The database of the Federal Tax Service of Russia showed that the Mayor of Odesa Gennadiy Trukhanov has Russian passport. This was reported by the Ukrainian Truth news agency, whose journalists entered personal and passport data of Trukhanov on the website of the organization.
"The system showed Trukhanov taxpayer’s identification number in Russia. If personal information is entered with a mistake, the identification number does not appear," the agency reported.
Previously Slidstvo.Info agency reported about Trukhanov's Russian passport, its number and issue date in its investigation in 2016.
Also, journalists published a screenshot. It can be seen that the document was issued in 2011.
Trukhanov himself denied possession of the Russian document. He claimed that his passport was a forgery, done by the former mayor Eduard Gurwits.
Security Service department document of Odesa region earlier tried to check if Trukhanov had the scandalous document. But they could not find the evidence.
As it was reported earlier Ukrainians in the occupied territory who have received Russian passports will not be able to use the visa-free regime with the European Union. This was announced by the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on May 16.
At the same time the President assured that “for those citizens who remained loyal to Ukraine, the conditions for obtaining passports will be comfortable. But citizens who have acquired Russian citizenship will have serious difficulties in obtaining a biometric passport. ”
