On October 13, during the filming of a plot about possible machinations of the former Deputy Minister of Information Policy, a member of the Council on Freedom of Expression and Protection of Journalists Tetyana Popova and her family, a journalist from Big Kyiv media was attacked by police officer.

The police attacked the journalist right during the filming of the video, the newspaper reports.

The incident took place in the premises of the Increastar business center (which is associated with the business assets of the Popova family - ed.) There was a search by investigators of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the framework of criminal proceedings initiated by firms controlled by the family of Tetiana Popova.

Despite the repeated demands of the participants in the investigative action to show the court order on permission to conduct the search, the investigators did not present it. Only two police officers introduced themselves and indicated their positions, journalists write.

"Quite an interesting fact - the investigators demonstrated the decision to inspect the property, indicating a specific list, which allegedly belongs to Media Expert Plus LLC and is located at the Increastar business center. However, in fact, the investigators, hiding behind a court order on the inspection, carried out a search of the business center and announced the seizure of property and documents that they found, "the media notes.

According to him, one of the investigators, who did not introduce himself, began to behave aggressively and prevented the journalist from performing his duties, using brute physical force, pushing him away from the office where the search was carried out. This moment was recorded on the camera.

The journalist filed a complaint at the hotline of the National Police about obstructing journalistic activities and establishing the identity of the assailant, who called himself an investigator.

"In general, the actual search was carried out not in accordance with a court order, but in accordance with the instructions of the representatives of Media Expert Plus LLC, which is associated with the Popova family and unknown persons with whom the investigators consulted over the telephone," the media writes.

Until recently, Tetyana Popova had no right to leave the territory of Ukraine and was even wanted for debt obligations of several million dollars to one of the Ukrainian banks.
