Vice-President of the European Commission, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell has started his visit to Ukraine as he reported on Twitter.
He underlined the importance of independent anti-corruption institutions and judicial reform in Ukraine.
“Started my visit to Ukraine today with a meeting with representatives of civil society and parliament. Strong, independent and effective anti-corruption institutions and judicial reforms are crucial to respond to the wishes of the Ukrainian people,” Borrell wrote.
Earlier, the visit of Josep Borrell was announced for March; however, it was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Besides, Borrell agreed to continue supporting Ukraine and the Eastern Partnership countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
