A 13-meter nylon sculpture ‘The Seated Ballerina’ by the famous American artist Jeff Koons was installed in the Rockefeller Center in New York on May 12 and it will remain until June 2.
Co-presented by Art Production Fund and Kiehl's, Seated Ballerina seeks to raise awareness for National Missing Children's Month, as well as The International Center for Missing & Exploited Children. It was reported by Elle.
On May 23, the Georgian artist Lado Pochkhua wrote on his Facebook page that Koons copied the work of Ukrainian artist Oksana Zhnikrup ‘The Ballerina Lenochka’. Zhnikrup made a figure at the Kyiv experimental ceramic art factory (closed in 2006). Sculptor and porcelain painter Oksana Zhnikrup (1931-1993) worked at the plant from 1955 to 1987. Her works are kept in the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Arts.
