In the Italian textbook on geography “Namaskar. Benvenuti nel mondo della geografia” by Alberto Frè for high school students distorted information about Ukraine, in particular, the country was called part of the Russian region. This was reported by the press service of the Embassy of Ukraine in Italy.
In particular, the textbook found information about the so-called Russian region, which, according to the authors of the book, includes Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, and the Baltic countries.
The annexed Crimea is shown on the map as Ukrainian territory, but the population of the peninsula was counted as the population of Russia.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Italy has already appealed to the Ministry of Education to correct the information.
“In its official appeal to the Italian Ministry of Education, the Association of Italian Publishers and directly to the publisher of the above textbook, the embassy strongly urges to correct this article, in turn offering openness to cooperation in the context of providing textbooks with truthful information about events in Ukraine,” the embassy representatives say.
At the same time, the agency called to inform the embassy in case of falsification of Ukrainian history and distorted information about the political situation in Ukraine by sending letters to [email protected], noting in the topic "Fake information" and adding the necessary attachments.
