Israel and Ukraine hold talks on the recognition of the vaccination passports for tourism. However, the signing process is hampered by the Israeli government as it does not recognize the Indian vaccine against Covid-19 CoviShield used in Ukraine as Ukraine 24 reported citing Ukraine’s Ambassador to Israel Yevhen Korniychuk.

“The Hasidim, who are the main tourists in Ukraine appealed to the Ukrainian Embassy, asked about actions of the Ukrainian state in the future because they are going to visit Uman and other pilgrimage destinations, whether or not they need so-called vaccination passport. We work on this issue together and soon it will be decided. In Israel, the level of vaccination is high without doubt; as of today, they use two vaccines in fact – Pfizer and Moderna. Today, we had talks on the mutual recognition of the so-called vaccination passports. We have some problems because the vaccines used by the Ukrainian governments will not be recognized by Israel,” Korniychuk noted.

On March 7, the new mitigations of quarantine came into force in Israel. The cafes and restaurants might be opened with the observation of particular conditions. Only owners of ‘green passports’ might be served; in other words, people who have already received two shots of coronavirus vaccine at least a week ago or people who recovered from Covid-19. Other people are allowed to stay outside. The ‘green passports’ were introduced in Israel two weeks ago. Moreover, the work of the conference halls and food establishments at the hotels is allowed; the stadiums might host up to 1,500 visitors. Besides, the government mitigated the tourism.

On March 8, foreign citizens were allowed to enter Israel. However, the arrival is tied with the special procedure and needs preliminary approval. The new regime is established until March 27, 2021. Later, it might be corrected. At this stage until the arrival to Israel, it is necessary to fill an application that would be considered by the special commission of the Interior or Foreign Ministry of Israel. The boarding on the plane is now allowed without these permissions.
