The Israeli Embassy in Ukraine sharply criticized the torchlight procession of nationalists, which was held on the occasion of the birthday of the leader of the OUN (b) Stepan Bandera. The Israeli diplomatic mission stated its position on Facebook.
"Israel condemns the nationalist march in honor of Stepan Bandera. The glorification of those who supported the Nazi ideology defiles the memory of the victims of the Holocaust in Ukraine," the embassy said.
Representatives of Israeli diplomacy demanded that the Ukrainian authorities conduct a thorough investigation of anti-Semitic manifestations that took place during the march - in accordance with the law adopted in Ukraine in 2021.
On January 1, a torchlight procession dedicated to Stepan Bandera's birthday took place in Kyiv.
In different regions of Ukraine, about 3,500 people took part in events dedicated to Bandera. The police did not notice any violations.
