The version that the Ukrainian plane was shot down by Iranian antiaircraft defense has been discussed for a few days. Obviously, none of the versions could be discarded until the conclusions of the commission of inquiry are received.
But at the moment, there is no direct evidence of a missile hit. For instance, there is no video, which would show that a rocket hits the airplane.
At the same time, president Zelensky urged everyone not to speculate on versions until the conclusions of experts are provided.
But the issue is becoming more and more topical. It has even transformed into a “Russian rocket,” as one of the versions that Ukraine’s National State and Defense Council (NSDC) is considering.
And, of course, it would not pass without a trace.
- Spreading the version of the “Russian rocket” would be used to press on Zelensky before the first results of the investigation are published. It would be a factor of discrediting him after the publication of the results of the investigation if it does not confirm the fact of a missile hit and the Ukrainian side recognizes this.
Naturally, the nationalists would not believe in this and accuse the president of “ejecting” the investigation. In general, the promotion of this version is a form of pressure on the Ukrainian authorities to refuse to recognize (or at least put in doubt) the results of the investigation if they do not confirm a missile strike.
- There is one more version - “Iranians shot down a Ukrainian plane with a Russian missile;” if it reaches the world level and is confirmed by certain “independent investigators,” it may provoke a new escalation in the Middle East (which might be the main goal of promoting this topic).
Therefore, in this situation, one should be careful in voicing assessments and refrain from speculations, until the results of the investigation are released.
