Ukraine will get extra doses of CoviShield vaccine from India, as soon as the producer increases the capacities as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing the Embassy of India in Ukraine.
“In the future, the supply of a larger number of the vaccine produced in India is expected with an increase of the production capacities in India,” the embassy underlined.
It was noted that thanks to the efforts of both countries, the necessary agreements were concluded in time and the permissions were received to supply the first batch of the medicine – 500,000 doses of CoviShield developed by AstraZeneca and Serum Institute of India.
Currently, the governments of Ukraine and India, as well as the producers of the vaccines regularly interact to provide Ukrainians with a larger number of the vaccines.
On February 19, the Health Minister departed to India to hold talks with the Serum Institute.
On February 21, the Health Minister reported that in India, the first 500,000 doses of the AstraZeneca-CoviShield vaccine have started their way to Ukraine.
On February 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced the efficacy level of CoviShield, calling its one of the best vaccines.
