The Ukrainian Ground Forces which are in charge of preparing for the Independence Day parade, have stated that they do not determine the parade uniform for military women, whose training in heels outraged some Ukrainians the day before. This was stated by the press service of the Ground Forces, Radio Svoboda reports.
"The investigation of this case is underway. After the inspection, a decision will be made. We are checking why this situation arose. We are responsible for organizing the parade, but not for the uniform. We are preparing people and equipment for the parade," the statement said.
The Ukrainian Ground Forces advised to apply to the Ministry of Defense for an explanation of the situation. The ministry said to ask the press service of the Ground Forces about this, because the issue of approving the uniform was considered by more than one person.
Meanwhile, during the parade on Independence Day, female servicemen will march in heels. The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine made such decision and published the first photos of the parade training.
Social media users immediately started to criticize the idea noting that this would turn the military parade into a "farce," and it is contrary to NATO values and creates absolute inequality between men and women. Subsequently, the Ministry of Defense limited the comments under the post.
