In Zakarpattia water might flood Kyiv – Chop highway

In Zakarpattia water level in rivers rises sharply: tens of households are flooded, water experts predict flooding of farmlands in some parts of the region and some water might get on Kyiv – Chop international route. This was reported by a correspondent on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.  

“Since yesterday 30 households in Perechyn area. They are flooded because of littered local steams and canals.  Rescue workers announce about flooded basements in Mukachevo area. Water in rivers of Zakarpattia region is rising sharply.  In Uzh river water rose visually to two meters compared to the previous day. Such rise is expected in other areas too. Water experts predict flooding of farmlands and greenhouses of Irshava and Vynohradiv areas. The water will also flow to the roads, in particular to Kyiv – Chop international route between Uzhorod and Murachevo. Now the situation is difficult”.

In addition, the first report of a person affected by the weather was received, according to the reporter. “Several minutes ago we found out that there is an injured person due to the weather. Because of the waterlogged soils a tree fell on the international highway Kyiv – Chop. The tree fell on the moving car and one person got injured. Right now he is in traumatology,” correspondent said.

There was a debris flow, due to which part of local road was closed off, he added.

As it was reported earlier there was a hurricane in Odesa. Kindergartens, schools and universities are operating normally, but a number of institutions still have canceled classes.
