People's Deputy from "Self Reliance" (Samopomich) faction Semen Semenchenko announced the inequality in the investigation of shooting by deputy Pashynsky. Semenchenko reported this to "112 Ukraine" TV channel.
"What would happen if he were an ordinary person, not a deputy? A criminal case would definitely be opened regarding the possible excess of self-defense limits, and possible attempted murder. Hooliganism or not, perhaps this criminal case would also be initiated. But if, on the contrary, deputy was the one who was being fired at, then it would be about an attempted murder. These double standards are causing people’s distrust," Semenchenko said.
Semenchenko said that law enforcement agencies should investigate high-profile case about shooting with the participation of the deputy without notice.
"A simple man would have been sued, and the deputy is allowed to do anything, this causes mistrust. Maybe, Pashynsky is not guilty indeed, but double standards do not allow to understand how it actually was," Semenchenko added.
Also, Semenchenko believes it unlikely that the Parliament will make a submission on the deprivation of the deputy’s immunity.
