The International Committee of the Red Cross favors the creation of mechanisms allowing searches for people missing in Donbas and establishing tools to protect objects of critical infrastructure. This was reported by Iryna Gerashchenko, the First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, on Facebook page.

"We support the initiative of the ICRC to search missing people and creating mechanisms for critical infrastructure protection," Gerashchenko noted on the results on the meeting with ICRC president.

According to Gerashchenko, there are 113 people being held on the occupied territory of Donbas as hostages, but the present information confirms the location of only 58 people. Apart from that, according to Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), 483 Ukrainian citizens were reported missing.

She noted that humanitarian group in Minsk insists on ICRC involvement in the searches of missing people every time, but, according to Gerashchenko, militants are against it and oppose the ICRC representatives’ presence in the process of prisoners’ release.
