Singer Anna Korsun (Maruv), who won the final of the national selection but she would not present Ukraine due to the disagreements with Ukraine's National Television Company. She is not ready to turn her participation in the contest into the promotion of the politicians, as Maruv reported on Facebook.
The singer said that her meeting with the representatives of the National Television Company of Ukraine lasted for about seven hours and the parties did not make the agreement on the result of it.
“As I told earlier, the refusal from the concerts in Russia was not the matter of principle for us. The other points of the agreements caused the main disputes, which will be indentured for me. I am a citizen of Ukraine, pay taxes, and sincerely love Ukraine. But I am not ready to address with the slogans, turning my participation in the contest into the promotion of our politicians. I am a musician, not the bat at the political stage,” she said.
Maruv also thanked those, who voted for her in the final of the national selection and stated that she
“wants to present her creative work without censorship.”
Earlier we reported that singer Anna Korsun (Maruv) will not present Ukraine at the song contest “Eurovision 2019.” Maruv said that she was forced to refuse from the participation in the contest from Ukraine due to her tour in Russia.
“I am ready to refuse from performances in Russia. I have answered all the questions the jury had on air. I have not visited Crimea since 2014. I have not violated any law of Ukraine. Besides, I am ready to assume all the costs related to participation in the international contest,” she stated.
Maruv won at the Ukrainian national selection for Eurovision and should perform with Siren Song in the first semi-final of the Eurovision, which will take place on May 14. Her performance was planned for the second half of the show.
