National flag and emblem of Hungary were removed from the Hungarian language school in the village of Solomonovo in Zakarpattia after it was allegedly visited by the Security Service officers. This was reported by the online agency of the Hungarians in Zakarpattia karpataljalap.net.
As the agency writes, on October 3, three people who introduced themselves as officers of the Security Service came to school. They already came before in May to an educational institution under the pretext of an investigation into the fact of "spreading separatist ideas" by some teachers. According to the head of the school, it was the "SBU officers" who removed the flag and emblem of Hungary, as well as the text of the country's hymn allegedly because of violation of Ukrainian legislation.
Chairman of the Uzhhorod regional organization Transcarpathian Hungarian Cultural Association Lívia Balogh stated that the laws of Ukraine provided for the use of symbols of national minorities in public places. Therefore, the organization plans to file a complaint against the actions of unknown persons to law enforcement agencies.
As zakarpattya.net.ua writes, the flag removed from the facade of the school was not the state symbol of Hungary. It was the flag of Austria-Hungary, which included Zakarpattia region.
As it was reported earlier President Petro Poroshenko signed the law of Ukraine #2145 VII ‘On Education’ on September 25. Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia and Moldova expressed the protests towards the law.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Peter Szijjarto claimed that the government of Hungary decided to block all further decisions of the EU that aim for the rapprochement of the EU with Ukraine due to the ‘Law on Education’.
Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Liliia Hrynevych announced the date of the negotiations between Ukraine and Hungary on ‘Law on Education’. The meeting is planned for October 19.
