The government of Hungary threatens to delay the integration of Ukraine to the European Union as the Ukrainian government reported on the possibility of the expulsion of the Hungarian consul in Berehovo due to the scandalous video on the issuance of the passports. Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó claimed this as the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Hungary reported.
Particularly, the reaction of the Ukrainian government to the video appeared on the internet and the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine on the possibility of the expulsion of the Hungarian consul he called "the hostile act" and claimed that the Hungarian government will not allow the Ukrainian administration to "aggravate the state of the Zakarpattia Hungarians even more".
"The dual citizenship is the usual practice in the EU, consequently, the Ukrainian objections do not show that Kyiv seriously treats the European integration and enter into the NATO," the minister said.
He also claimed that the possible expulsion of the Hungarian consul earlier mentioned by Ukraine's Foreign Ministry will aggravate the relations between two countries even more and it will not be left without the respond of the Hungarian authorities.
"Hungary constantly follows the course of events and possibly, in the future, the furthers measures on the deceleration of the integration of Ukraine to the EU will be needed, Szijjártó claimed and added that he will raise this issue during the UN General Assembly in New York during the meeting with the Ukrainian side.
Earlier Foreign Minister of Ukraine reported that that early published on the net video with the issuance of Hungarian passports in Zakarpattia region is being verified. If it proves to be true, then the Hungarian Consul may be expelled from the country.
Reportedly, earlier, Ukrainian outlet Ukrinform published the video where a number of Ukrainian citizens receive Hungarian passports and take an oath of allegiance to Hungary in the Hungarian Consulate in Berehove. The procedure is followed with the advice of the Hungarian diplomat to not to tell Ukrainian authorities about the receipt of new documents.
