The rally in support of Oleg Sentsov took place on June 1-3. Hundreds of people organized the event and then took part in it in their cities. 78 cities participated in the rally (though on Facebook it was reported that rallies are carried out in the cities not mentioned in the list before).

“Thank you for taking your time and supporting Sentsov. Thank you for not passing by. And thank you for not having that skepticism which kills all the good intentions. This skepticism is called “nothing depends on me anyway”. It actually depends! Many things do. After all, if we scream about the injustice as loud as it is possible all together, we will be certainly heard. This always works this way,” Nataliya Kaplan, Sentsov’s sister, addressed to the participants of the rally.

According to Oleksandra Matviychuk, one of the organizers, more than 600 people took part in the preparations of the rally.

The participants of the rally in different cities all over the world gathered signatures, recorded appeals, and conducted performances (for instance, the one called “red card for Putin” was dedicated to the coming FIFA World Cup in Russia), to draw attention to Oleg Sentsov and other Ukrainians, who are “still there” for today, who are kept in Russia.

How it was

Brussels (Belgium)

Sidney (Australia)

Geneva (Switzerland)

The participants of the rally in Geneva passed the address with the demand to release Oleg Sentsov and all the Ukrainian political prisoners to Russia’s Permanent Representative to UN and to the international organizations.

100 people signed the appeal, including Geneva’s mayor, MPs and the representatives of the academic and artistic circles.

Leipzig (Germany)

As the organizers of the rally wrote on Facebook, people showed up the rally in Leipzig twice. It was raining heavily on the first day.

Rallies in Ukraine

Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Sumy, Poltava, Uzhhorod, Odesa, Ternopil, Vinnytsia and many other cities.

The story from Cherkasy is worth mentioning – three generations came out on a rally. Viktorija Feofilova, one of the organizers of the rally, wrote on Facebook: “My mother has showed up on a rally for the first time today! It is a significant event for me. Therefore, here are three generations of our family who demand to release Oleg Sentsov and other political prisoners kept in Russia. Ostap was whistling, mother was holding the poster and I was glad I have such concerned relatives…I wish it could help!”

What’s next?

The organizers of the rally are to inform about the further plans soon.

“I hope, that the noise around the political prisoners will remain till all of them are released. Together to the end!” Nataliya Kaplan noted in her appeal.
