As a result of the flood in Transcarpathia on December 16th, several hundred households were flooded, and a level of water in some places could reach a historic high. This is stated on the website of the chairman of Transcarpathian Regional State Administration Henadiy Moskal.
According to Moskal, the most critical situation is in the Irshava and Vinohradiv districts.
"In the morning, between the villages of Syltse and Vilhivka, the water overflowed and flooded the route Mukachevo-Rohatyn. Approximately 150 meters of the road surface was flooded, the traffic was blocked. In Vilhivka 50 basements of residential buildings were flooded, however, since the water in Borzhave continues to rise, it poses the threat of flooding about a hundred other households. Since yesterday mobile pump stations have been operating on site to minimize further flooding and rescuers strengthen the dams with sandbags," Moskal said.
In Latorytsia, the level of water rise in rivers might exceed the historical maximum recorded in 2001.
It is noted that over a thousand hectares of farmland have been flooded in the region, 17 pumping stations work to pump out the water. As of 9:30, the water level in Latorytsia will reach the historical maximum of the catastrophic flood in 2001 if another 60 cm is added and it still continues to rise. Until evening, a historic high can be reached.
As it was reported earlier 36 mines at the Donbas territory not controlled by Ukraine cannot come under exploitation due to the flooding.
According to the information, the water removal completely does not work from Yenakiieve to Horlivka, near Pervomaisk, partially in Donetsk, Makiivka, Shakhtarsk, Toretsk that are not controlled by Ukraine.
