Detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) are investigating the possible involvedness of Odesa’s mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov in the embezzling of local budget, according to the NABU on Facebook.
Two criminal proceedings have been opened. The first one investigates the embezzling of local budget money through overvaluation of road repair works. The second one concerns the transfer of property of the Odesa International Airport, during which a part of the property was unlawfully eliminated, which caused a $3.7 million loss.
Searches have been conducted in the housings of individuals suspected of having a part in the crimes. The mayor’s apartment was searched today, as well as the office of one company, which, as the NABU believes, participated in the embezzling.
