About Donbas conflict

The representatives of Russia at the Trilateral Contact Group insist on holding of joint inspections in Donbas. Such a suggestion is caused by the fact that the Russian side wants to check the reports and conclusions of the OSCE.

Meanwhile, the European Union noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) had no access to prisoners in the uncontrolled territories of Donbas.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine, in their turn, do not exclude potential resumption of hostile activities in Donbas.

About Covid-19

As of October 2, 217, 661 Covid-19 cases observed in Ukraine. Besides, Ukraine entered TOP5 European countries with the largest daily increase in Covid-19 cases. The occupancy of hospital beds for patients infected with Covid-19 already exceeded 50% in Ukraine.  In its turn, the WHO stated that the daily number of Covid-infected in Ukraine will grow to 7,000-9,000. Besides, the WHO underlined that the Covid-19 morbidity might increase by October.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian parliament canceled all plenary sessions slated for the next month due to Covid-19. Ex-president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko infected with coronavirus. Besides, U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania also infected with the virus.

The list of quarantine color zones was updated in Ukraine. Besides, the government amended the rules of entry for foreigners to Ukraine during the lockdown. 

About fire in Luhansk region

Forest fires in Luhansk region became this week's mostly discussed natural disaster in Ukraine. The reports first appeared on September 28, as flames took the area near Nyzhnioteple village. The fire was extinguished, but the story did not end there.

Fire seats occurred in multiple areas of Luhansk region; strong wind gusts amidst the extreme fire hazard made it even easier for the flames to spread. At some point, 22 settlements in the region were endangered by the spreading fire. Rescue teams counted over 100 fire beds and claimed that at least nine people lost their lives due to the large-scale disaster.

On Friday, Prime Minister Denys Shmygal stated that fires in Luhansk region were localized, and civilian settlements were not in danger anymore. The works are uynderway, and rescue teams of Ukraine's State Service for Emergencies and other services put a lot of effort to cope with the disaster.

About the death of an employee of the US Embassy

An employee of the Embassy of the United States of America was found unconscious in Kyiv today with a head injury. The woman was taken to a hospital where she died. 

The victim was immediately hospitalized in a hospital, but despite the attempts of doctors, she died.

September 30, Kyiv police said that they were establishing the circumstances of the injury to the employee of the US Embassy.

According to them, bystanders found a woman with a head injury in a forested area near the railway tracks on the Tolbukhina street, Shevchenko district of Kyiv. She was hospitalized in an unconscious condition, and in a few, she died in a hospital.

According to the information in the media, Sanver Nikaelo, an employee of the US Embassy, ​​was killed.

About sanctions

On September 28, the EU ambassadors approved the anti-Russian sanctions for construction of the Kerch Bridge.

Concerning the crisis in Belarus, Canada and the United Kingdom imposed sanctions against Aleksander Lukashenko, his son Viktor and a number of Belarusian officials. Besides, the EU leaders agreed to impose sanctions against Belarus over controversial election results and the crackdown on protests in that country

 

About Biden-Trump debates

Journalists claim that the relevant documents are in their possession, but they refuse to tell who exactly provided them.
