About Donbas conflict

On October 30, Ukrainian troops suffered combat casualties due to the rude breach of ceasefire agreements by Russian mercenaries in Donbas. Two Ukrainian servicemen were killed, and two more suffered injuries. As the aggravation occurred, Ukraine’s delegation in the Minsk Group called an urgent meeting of this authority.

Russian Emergency Ministry claimed that the 99th convoy of vans with "humanitarian aid" was sent to Donbas. According to the Russian authority, 119 tons of humanitarian aid were delivered in Donetsk and Luhansk regions; there are medicines and medical equipment on board. At that, Ukraine's Foreign Ministry responded to this incident. "The Ministry decisively protested (...) due to another action of internationally illegal action against Ukraine's sovereignty by the Russian side", the message said.

Head of the Ukrainian delegation at the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk urged the Russian Federation and occupation authorities of Donbas to unblock the process of the mutual release of prisoners.

About Constitutional Court and e-declarations and visa-free

On October 28, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine recognized the norm about the criminal responsibility for false declaration unconstitutional. Such a decision caused a lot of controversy in the political sphere. The European Union informed the Ukrainian side that it could be considered as a reason for temporary suspension of the visa-free regime with Ukraine.

In response to it, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky convened an urgent meeting of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to determine measures for the immediate response of the state to threats to national security.

Besides that, Zelensky submitted the draft bill to the Verkhovna Rada that offers MPs to deprive the Constitutional Court judges of their authorities.

About US election

The U.S. election day is next week, and actions and comments of various sort keep coming amidst the tense atmosphere of expectations. Joe Biden already voted early; he and his wife cast their ballots at a polling station in Wilmington, Delaware. Sharing his views on foreign affairs, the Democrats candidate also stated he would increase pressure on allies of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

US Air Force fighters intercepted an unauthorized aircraft in a restricted area over a campaign rally for President Donald Trump, as he met with his voters in Arizona on Wednesday. Trump heard the sound of the jet engine and used the moment to show his sense of humor - once again.

About coronavirus

As of October 30, 378,729 Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine.

The Cabinet of Ministers extended the emergency situation in Ukraine until December 31, 2020.  Mayor of Boryspil town Anatoliy Fedorchuk passed away, succumbing to Covid-19. It was supposed that he would be re-elected.

Meanwhile, France and Germany strengthen the anti-Covid-19 measures. The mortality rate from coronavirus in Europe increased by almost 40 percent.

Concerning the development of vaccines, the Ukrainian one has already neutralized the virus in human cells. The trials on people of the Israeli vaccine against coronavirus will start on November 1. Besides, the first Spanish vaccine against Covid-19 will go through clinical trials in Argentina.

About attacks in France

The situation with a surge of Islamophobia in France after the murder of teacher Samuel Paty seems to be gaining more and more threatening momentum.

Meanwhile, on October 29, two knife attacks occurred in France. In Avignon, the knifeman attacked local policemen. In Nice, another man attacked people near the local Notre-Dame cathedral. He beheaded a woman, killed another two people and wounded a few more.

 

About sports

On this Saturday, October 31, Oleksandr Usyk will face Dereck Chisora in his second bout in the heavyweight division. The British boxer is coming into this match with a superior weight advantage - he weighed in more than 40 pounds heavier than his opponent.

Dynamo Kyiv FC and Shakhtar Donetsk both finished their last Champions League matches in a draw - the Kyivites got the even score against Ferencvárosi T.C, and the Miners kept it "0:0" against Inter.
