Donbas conflict

OSCE observers spotted over 100 units of heavy military hardware in Donbas. Besides, there is artillery and mortars, reads the report from October 24.23 tanks and 80 armored combat vehicles were spotted near training ground in Buhaivka (uncontrolled by Ukraine, 37 km south-west from occupied Luhansk) on October 19. Besides, the OSCE spotted four towed mortars, four air defense missile systems, 16 self-propelled howitzers, 12 towed howitzers and six antitank cannons.

Some 450 explosions were observed in Donbas on October 24; this is mentioned in the OSCE report. “The majority of violations of the ceasefire regime spotted in the areas to south-south and south-south-east and south from Pyshchevyk (controlled by Ukraine, 84 km south from Donetsk), north, north-north-east and northeast from Shyrokyne (controlled by Ukraine, 100 km south from Donetsk) and west and north from Horlivka (uncontrolled by Ukraine, 39 km north-east from Donetsk),” the message said.

Ukrainian journalist Stanislav Aseev was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic. Prosecutor’s Office of the self-proclaimed “republic” reported that. Aseev was found guilty of a number of crimes under the articles "organization of extremist community", "espionage", "incitement to espionage", "public calls for carrying out extremist activities" and "public calls for actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity". It was stated that from March 2015 to May 2017 Aseev "carried out a visual search of places of deployment of its “people's militia” units and transmitted the obtained information via the Internet to the representatives of the State Security Service of Ukraine, knowing that the collected data will be used against the security of the “self-proclaimed Republic”.

No special promotion in the preparation to Normandy Format Summit is observed, said Russia’s Presidential Assistant on International Affairs Yuriy Ushakov. President Zelensky in Japan

On October 21, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky came to Japan with the working visit. Zelensky thanked Japan for its support and consideration of the visa-free regime, besides; he stated that Ukraine is interested in continuing the implementation of infrastructure projects with support of Japan.

On October 22, Volodymyr Zelensky and first Lady Olena Zelenska participated in the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito. Moreover, Zelensky met with the leadership of the Japan Association of New Economy, Chairman of Parliamentary Association for Friendship Japan-Ukraine Eisuke Mori, Tadamori Oshima, Chairman of the House of Representatives (lower house of the Japanese Parliament), and Akiko Santo, Chairman of the House of Councilors (Upper House of Parliament).

Moreover, Zelensky held a meeting with German President Frank-Walther Steinmeier. The sides discussed the situation in Donbas.

Finally, the Ukrainian leader invited leaders of Marubeni Corporation to invest in the garbage recycling plants and construction of roads in Ukraine.

Kyiv: a week in thick fog

Thick fog is making air navigation and driving dangerous since the weekend in Kyiv.

local authorities say it is a casual kind of weather due to extreme humidity rate, but some citizens assume it is due to the high atmosphere pollution. On Thursday, the Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine Mykola Chechetkin said there was no significant air pollution spotted on the territory of Ukraine, so there are no reasons for panic. The next day he again reassured that in spite of the thick fog covering Ukraine, there is no considerable growth in the rate of air contamination in Ukraine. Though people smell car exhaust emissions and the atmospheric quality air index is several dozens hire than usually.

Is Ukraine's Azov regiment a terrorist organization?

On Monday, U.S. Congress demanded to recognize Ukraine's Azov regiment as terrorist organization. 40 Congress members from the Democrats signed the letter, which urges to include the regiment into the list of foreign terrorist organizations; they believe Azov is involved in the Christchurch mosque shootings that occurred in March 2019.

Ukraine’s Interior Minister Arsen Avakov believes that the attempt to discredit the special Azov regiment of the National Guard is the desire to weaken the position of the Ukrainian state in the world.

According to Avakov, the special regiment Azov is the legal regular detachment of the National Guard of Ukraine. The personnel performs the service and fighting tasks for defense of the country.

Sports: Ukraine in UEFA Europa League and FIFA ratings, boxers Gvozdyk and Lomachenko

Euro-2020 will be the third tournament in history for the national team of Ukraine. Previously, Ukrainians played at home Euro in 2012 and then went to France in 2016.

A unifying battle for WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles between Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Russian fighter Artur Beterbiev took place on October 18. Beterbiev knocked Gvozdyk down three times in the 10th round, as the referee, Gary Rosato immediately waved off the fight following the third knockdown. It is worth mentioning that Russian boxer was behind on two of the three judges’ scorecards at the time of the stoppage.
