About Donbas conflict

The authorities of occupied districts of Luhansk and Donetsk regions stated that they would not open all entry-exit checkpoints in Donbas on November 10. They did not let citizens pass across these checkpoints, forcing them to walk several kilometers carrying their belongings.

Leonid Kravchuk, the head of Ukraine's delegation in Trilateral Contact Group, noted that local elections in the occupied territories of Donbas could be held under the single-constituency system.

Spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Russia opposed the introduction of peacekeepers in Donbas.

As a result of Russia's invasion in Crimea and Donbas, more than 13,000 were killed, another 30,000 were injured. This was stated by Deputy Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Yuri Vitrenko.

Russian occupant forces continue to hasten forceful issuance of passports for residents of the occupied Donbas. Press office of the Chief Intelligence Department of Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported that on November 13. Russian passport, i.e. citizenship is the obligatory condition for citizens to serve in the units of the 1st and 2nd Army Corps of the occupant troops.  Besides, the Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russian side recruits men with Russian citizenship who reside in Donbas for service in the ranks of peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh. 

About coronavirus

As of November 13, 512,652 Covid-19 cases observed in Ukraine, while 48,646 cases registered in Kyiv.  

On November 9, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky got infected with Covid-19. Moreover, Head of the President’s Office Andriy Yermak and Defense Minister Andriy Taran diseased with coronavirus.

Besides, Ukraine’s government introduced the weekend quarantine all over the country.

Health Ministry reported that the coronavirus vaccine will arrive in Ukraine at the end of the first quarter of 2021. Meanwhile, Pfizer’s vaccine against Covid-19 showed 90% efficiency. However, the difficulties with transportation of the vaccine might occur as it should be stored at minus 70 degrees Celsius.

The WHO underlined that about 70% of the world’s population should be immunized to ensure the end of the pandemic. 27 countries of the European Union will get the vaccine against the coronavirus at the same time.

This week, Denmark provided Ukraine with 50 lung ventilators. Besides, United Arabic Emirates passed almost 240,000 express tests for Covid-19 to Ukraine.

About tragic flights MH17 and PS752

On November 12, the District Court of The Hague will continue the hearing of the MH17 case.

Concerning the crash of the PS752 flight near Teheran, the dates for further negotiations between Ukraine and Iran is not determined yet. Moreover, Iranian authorities keep Ukrainian investigators from interviewing the suspects in the downing of Boeing 737.

About Joe Biden

Joe Biden, U.S. president-elect, discussed the conflict in Ukraine during his phone talks with the European leaders. He expressed interest in the joint work ‘on global challenges, including the conflicts Ukraine and Syria, security and development in Africa and Iran’s nuclear program’.

Meanwhile, a number of Ukrainian politics congratulated Biden on his victory in the U.S. presidential election. Most of them were hoping for close cooperation between the U.S. and Ukraine.

About Nagorno-Karabakh

Another hot phase of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict seems to be over. Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia convened a negotiation group and agreed to cease the shooting; at the same time, the deal foresees that Armenia would pass control over three districts in Karabakh to Azerbaijan. Russia, which acts as the guarantor of safety in the disputed region, brought its peacekeepers there; on November 12, some 2,000 servicemen and armored vehicles arrived in Nagorno-Karabakh and deployed their surveillance posts and a base there. Azerbaijani leader Ilham Aliev said his country would join the peacekeeping efforts in the region, too.

Armenian residents of Nagorno-Karabakh's districts that should be soon passed to Azerbaijan (in accordance with the trilateral agreement) leave their homes and set buildings on fire. "Armenians who live in the districts adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh, which should soon pass under control of Azerbaijan, massively leave these territories; some of them burn their houses", BBC reported.

About Ukrainian music and movies

This week, Ukrainian band KAZKA released official trailer of its animated series Secret of Charmvoice.

Sasha Zarytska (the lead singer of the band) became a prototype of the main character of the series – a little girl named Kazka who follows the way to her dream from the magical forest to a noisy and unfriendly metropolis.

Moreover, two Ukrainian movies  - My Thoughts Are Silent and Domyvyna were awarded.

The first one received a Discovery Award at the Raindance Film Festival in the UK. The second - won three awards (Best Short Film, Best Short Film Director, Best Ide) at the GILAK International Film Festival in Iran.

About sports

The national football team of Ukraine had a friendly match against Poland. Through the course of the match, the Yellow-Blues were not capable of capitalizing on the mistakes, which led to a 0:2 loss.

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury was asked about Oleksandr Usyk’s recent bout against Derek Chisora. According to the “Gypsy King”, the world’s top 15 heavyweights were not that impressed with Usyk’s performance.
