About Donbas conflict

A Ukrainian military man deceased at a hospital, succumbing to the fatal gunshot wound that he suffered in Avdiivka, Donetsk region. The fighter was wounded by a sniper of Russian mercenaries on November 24.

Trilateral Contact Group for a peaceful solution to the Donbas conflict went for a session on November 24. The event took place in the video conference mode. The sides failed to reach a consensus in terms of unblocking checkpoints in Donbas combat area.

Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine has been looking into criminal proceedings against 250 foreign citizens who fought on the side of Russian militants in Donbas.

Emergencies Ministry of the Russian Federation sent the 100th convoy of trucks with humanitarian aid to Donbas.

First civilians who suffered in Donbas combat area since the beginning of the ceasefire could have been injured due to the landmine explosion. The actual incident took place on November 12. Press office of the Ukrainian delegation in the Trilateral Contact Group reported that on November 26.

About coronavirus and vaccines 

As of November 27, there are 326,238 Covid-19 cases in Ukraine, while 16,218 of them registered in Kyiv. Besides, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky and Head of President’s Office Andriy Yermak recovered from the infection.

However, the Ukrainian authorities continue to announce the introduction of the strict lockdown. PM Denys Shmygal does not exclude winter holiday quarantine. Interior Minister Arsen Avakov stated Ukraine should immediately introduce a lockdown for three-four weeks. 

Besides, UNICEF predicts a powerful epidemic wave in Ukraine within a week or two.

AstraZeneca stated its vaccine has 70% efficacy. Besides, the company plans to produce 200 million doses of vaccine by the end of 2020.

The EU plans to hold the first vaccinations against coronavirus until the end of December, 2020. Meanwhile, Ukraine hold talks with COVAX on supply of anti-Covid-19 vaccines. Besides, India promises to end the development of the vaccine soon.

About sanctions

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended the food embargo against several countries, including Ukraine. Besides, Belarus plans to introduce sanctions against Ukraine's officials for their support of EU sanctions against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko.

Meanwhile, four countries joined European sanctions against Russia over the aggression in Donbas.

News from the United States

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed that the State Department began the process of transition of power from Donald Trump to President-elect Joe Biden. The General Services Administration approved the beginning of the process on Tuesday. 

Antony Blinken is about to become the U.S. Secretary of State. The media found out Joe Biden’s plans on terms of first and the most crucial appointments. It is worth mentioning that Blinken. The experienced diplomat comes from the family with Ukrainian origins.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and President of the European Council Charles Michel offered Joe Biden to reconsider the U.S. trans-Atlantic relations with Europe at the summit in Washington next year.

About visa-free and FTA with Ukraine

Ukraine and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines signed an agreement for the mutual abolishment of the visa regime between the countries.  Thus, Ukraine has a visa-free regime for entry with 130 countries.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Free Trade Zone between Ukraine and Israel will start operating on January 1, 2021. The initial date of the launch was delayed because of the re-election of the Knesset.

About sports

The UEFA’s appeal committee considered the case of the cancellation of the League of Nations match between the national teams of Ukraine and Switzerland and awarded the Ukrainian side a technical defeat.

Nevertheless, the Ukrainian Association of Football is going to appeal the decision in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne.

Ukrainian national boxing team won 15 medals at the junior boxing championship of Europe. This year, the Ukrainian junior team of boxers showed one of the best overall results in their history.

About Ukrainian music

This week, Jäger Music Awards 2020 took place in Ukraine. Ukrainian folk quartet DakhaBrakha won in nomination "Artist of the Year".

The soundtrack to David Dobkin's movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga, in the recording of which Ukrainian singer Jamala participated, was nominated for the 2021 Grammy Awards.

Moreover, Alyona Alyona presented a video clip for her new track Dubadav. Eurovision National Selection participants Cloudless, in their turn, released music video of bilingual single Dumky or Slow. Ukrainian singer BÁLLI unveiled lyric video for debut single Pid Doschem.

In addition, Melovin announced that he is going to perform online on New Year's Night.
