About Donbas conflict

Vitaliy Markiv, the fighter of the National Guard of Ukraine, previously judged in Italy, has returned to his motherland. Markiv's plane landed in Boryspil airport not far from Kyiv on November 4. The serviceman spoke with the press and answered their questions. Vitaliy Markiv is the member of National Guard of Ukraine. Italy accused him of involvement in the murder of Italian photographer Andrea Rocchelli, killed in Donetsk region in 2014. In 2017, the police arrested Markiv in Bologna airport as he came there to visit his mother. Earlier this year, the Italian court sentenced him to 24 years behind the bars under these charges; however, the Appeal Court in Milan ruled that Markiv has to be cleared of all accusations.

Russian mercenaries opened fire from 82 mm mortars; this weapon has not been used in Donbas for a while now. The enemy mines hit Vodyane, in Donetsk region.

Russian leader Putin submitted amendments to his decree issued in 2017; the bill stipulates that Russia officially recognizes the documents issued to residents of the occupied areas of Donbas. The list of documents recognized by Russia includes passports; education certificates; birth, marriage and death certificates; vehicle registrations and registration plates.

On November 3, 100 days have passed since the beginning of the actions of the agreements on the full and comprehensive ceasefire regime in Donbas as the Office of the President of Ukraine reported. IIt allowed to decrease the combat losses among the Ukrainian fighters by nine times,” the President’s Office reported.

Head of the Ukrainian delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group Leonid Kravchuk said that Ukraine offers to create the free economic zone in Donbas for 30 years. “Without it (free economic zone) it is impossible to restore the economy there (in Donbas). This free economic zone, according to our vision, should act approximately until 2050. The calculations show that this time will allow to put Donbas region in the normal state,” Kravchuk said.

About coronavirus

Earlier, Denmark decided to kill 17 million mink amid coronavirus fears as Covid-19 mutations in mink could lead to new pandemic in Denmark. So, the country imposed lockdown in North Jutland due to mutated coronavirus.

In addition, UN General Assembly will hold special session, focusing on Covid-19-related challenges.

About US election

As of 4 p.m. Friday (Kyiv time), the result of US presidential election is still unknown. Ex-Vice-President Joe Biden (Democrats) gained 50.5 percent of votes, while incumbent President Donald Trump (Republicans) got almost 48 percent. Both rivals still have chances to win, because the vote count still goes on in several states – specifically, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Georgia. At some point, both candidates claimed they were confident about their victory.

On November 5, Trump demanded to stop the vote count, claiming his observers were not allowed to work on polling stations; further, he demanded that the Supreme Court decide the outcome of the election.

Protests and mass clashes between the supporters of presidential candidates occurred on the election day. Dozens of people marched the streets of Los Angeles; hundreds of people gathered for protests in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Portland, Oregon. Some of them followed the vote count; while others proceeded to open confrontation. Over a dozen of partakers of the protest were arrested in Minnesota.

About MH17 case

On November 3, the District Court of the Hague renewed the hearings in the MH17 case. The defence had the floor and presented a video, in which their client officially testified.

It is worth noting that the defence subsequently started to elaborate on the investigation requests. Main points of the requests were as follows: Was Flight MH17 taken down by a Buk missile? Was the Buk missile fired from a field near Pervomaiskyi? Did the defendant participate in a criminally liable manner?
