About Donbas conflict

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he would like to speak about specific dates of ending the war in Donbas at the Normandy Summit. According to the president, he will raise the issue of "de-occupation of Donbas with more or less specific dates".

However, Kremlin does not rule out that personal meeting between President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky may take place in France.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military completed the demining works in Bohdanivka and Petrivske. The disengagement of forces and vehicles in Petrivske began on November 9. Ukraine's armed forces and militants of the so-called "Donetsk People's Republic" fired flares, which meant they were ready to begin. The demining works kicked off on November 13.

Ukrainian Cabinet of Ministers has simplified the procedure for crossing the demarcation line for citizens of Ukraine, who are forced to live in occupied Donbas.

About Day of Dignity and Freedom and Holodomor

On Wednesday, November 21, Ukrainians marked the Day of Dignity and Freedom. Memorial rallies took place in Kyiv and some other major cities of Ukraine. In Kyiv, people started their procession from Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square and walked along the Heavenly Hundred Alley, brought flowers and lit the candles paying tribute to all those who perished during the Revolution of Dignity.

On November 21, Ukrainians mark the Day of Dignity and Freedom. It takes people back to the events of two revolutions in Ukraine; the Orange Revolution took place in 2004, and the Revolution of Dignity occurred in late 2013-early 2014.

On November 21, 2013, a rally began in Kyiv, as people protested against the government's decision to suspend the signature of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement. The protesters demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Mykola Azarov. When the police rudely dispersed that peaceful demonstration, even more people reached Kyiv's Maidan Nezalezhnosti Square, protesting against such brutality. More than 20 countries all over the world supported Ukraine with solidarity actions. In January and February 2014, the events in Kyiv eventually led to an open conflict with law enforcers. According to official data, at least 108 people deceased in street fights; most of them suffered fatal gunshot wounds, others were beaten to death by government-hired thugs.

On November 23, another sad date is observed in the Ukrainian history and modern times. Citizens pay tribute to the victims of Holodomor, the largest man-made famine in the history of humankind. This year, the main commemorative events will start on the territory of the National Museum "Memorial to Holodomor victims" in Kyiv. At 4 p.m., a national minute of silence will be announced and after that, people all over Ukraine start bringing candles to the memorial to the victims as part of the 'Light the Candle' action. One can also light the candle in the window of the house.

About returned ships

Russia returned Ukraine’s Navy vessels captured last year in Kerch Strait.

Though the vessels are completely damaged, they are not capable of going on their own, and even the ceiling lights, electric connectors and toilets inside were deinstalled by the Russians. Russia’s FSB claims it returned vessels in normal condition.

Apart from that on November 21, Arbitration Tribunal of the International Court of Justice held the first hearings in Ukraine's claim against Russia on the immunity of three Ukrainian naval vessels and 24 members of their crew in accordance with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Moscow wants to achieve a delay and closure of the process.

About gas

Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine Oleksiy Orzhel considers it unacceptable to sign a one-year agreement with Russia on gas transit through Ukraine, under the condition of arbitration waiving.

Germany believes that the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine should continue even after 2019. German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas stated this at a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko.

Climate change processes will influence the future of Naftogaz and the gas industry as a whole. The head of Naftogaz-Ukraine Andriy Kobolev at the annual general meeting of the European Business Association (EBA) during the thematic panel "Waiting for the Future" stated this. The journalist of 112.ua reported that. "We see climate change and its consequences and the task of each energy company to contribute to solving climate problems. One of the main problems of the energy company is to switch from non-renewable energy sources to renewable energy sources," - Kobolev said.
