About Donbas conflict
A serviceman of the Joint Forces was wounded in Donbas combat area on Friday. According to press office of the Ukrainian delegation in Minsk contact group, the Ukrainian fighter was injured in the sniper attack at 10.46 a.m. The incident took place near Luhanske settlement.
Pro-Kremlin militants continue blocking the work of five checkpoints in Donbas. These are Schastya, Zolote, Hnutove, Mayorske and Mariinka. The State Border Guard of Ukraine ckains that in fact, only two checkpoints are working on the side of militants, - Stanytsia Luhanska and Novotroitske.
The authorities of occupied Donbas will pass to Ukraine over 300 prisoners for the further serving of their sentences in Ukrainian prisons, as Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova reported. However, the process of the transfer of the citizens will start after the end of the quarantine. At the same time, all checkpoints will start to work to enable the citizens of uncontrolled territories to come and get the social payments.
The position of the Russian Federation, which has tried to hold discussions on the implementation of the Minsk agreements at the UN level, is considered to be misleading. This is mentioned in the joint statement of the United Kingdom, the United States, and Estonia, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN Serhiy Kyslytsia reports on his Facebook page. "Today, Russia held a meeting at the UN on what it considers to be the status of the implementation of the Minsk agreements. This meeting was an open attempt to present a false and deceptive narrative about the conflict in eastern Ukraine," the statement said.
The Ukrainian government also condemned Russia’s idea to push and promote the proxies from the so-called “republics” as full-fledged representatives participating in the UN Security Council.
This week, the weekend lockdown was abolished in Ukraine. However, the situation in the country remains tense. Meanwhile, Ukraine and Switzerland will sign a memorandum on the creation of budgetary lung ventilators.
About UN Security Council and fake news
This week, Russia provided information about participation of occupied Donbas representatives in the UN Security Council meeting and Ukraine responded to this information. Later, UN stated that the Russian attempts to hold talks about Minsk Agreements implementation were misleading.
Besides, the European Commission prepared the legislation that tightens the state monitoring over the online platforms and provides the sanctions against foreign subjects, particularly Russian and Chinese, which spread disinformation on the internet.
About Ukraine and Hungary
Hungararian Foreign Minister Peter Szijarto urged OSCE to send a mission to Ukraine's westernmost region of Zakarpattia so as to look into the violations of rights of the Hungarian community.
Such a call was due to the recent check of Ukraine’s Security Service at the place of Vasyl Brenzovych, the leader of Hungarian society in that region. According to the official statement, its operatives checked information about possible signs of illegal activity among the MPs of the local rural council.
Later, a video appeared on the Web: a man wearing the mask with symbols of the Right Sector organization threatened Hungarian Ukrainians and their children. The Ukrainian side has already initiated criminal proceedings on that fact.
About Nord Stream 2
Norwegian DNV GL classification society has refused the cooperation with Nord Stream 2 project. The company made such a decision due to the threats of the U.S. sanctions. Nevertheless, the Nord Stream 2 AG project company operating the construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline plans to resume pipe-laying work already this month.
Meanwhile, Germany, Russia’s major energy security partner in Europe seeks ways to finish the pipeline and get it ready. German Chancellery of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, headed by Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig, is in a hurry to apply a tool that would allow to circumvent US sanctions against Russia's Nord Stream 2 project, which is due to take effect in January. This is stated in an article by the German newspaper Bild, which was published under the following headline - "Putin's pipeline “Nord Stream-2.”
