Donbas conflict

The Office of Ombudsman reported that 152 children have died since the beginning of the war in Donbas.

Chaplynka entry-exit checkpoint on the administrative border of Crimea with the mainland Ukraine will suspend its work on June 7. This is mentioned in the message of press office of Ukraine's State Border Guard.  

Counter-intelligence of the SBU, Security Service of Ukraine busted and detained the resident of Donetsk region. The man was recruited by representatives of the so-called "ministry of state security of the non-recognized Donetsk People’s Republic.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas responded to President Volodymyr Zelensky's request for arms supplies to Ukraine. According to the German Foreign Minister, arms supplies will not help resolve the conflict in Donbas.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine prepares for different military threats from Russia. He said so in the interview to Frankfuter Allgemeine Zeitung. According to the Ukrainian leader, there are many military options that one could expect from the Kremlin.

Coronavirus

Ukraine registered the AstraZeneca vaccine against coronavirus for urgent medical use. Meanwhile, quarantine restrictions could be eased for the summer period in Ukraine.

Israel lifted almost all quarantine bans. Besides, the Health Ministry of Israel made a conclusion that the possibility exists of the link between the second dose of Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and dozens of cases of myocarditis of the men under the age of 30.

 Poland set the record for daily vaccinations against Covid-19.

Governments of seven EU member countries began to issue digital certificates of vaccination. Besides, third-country nationals will be able to obtain the EU digital Covid-19 certificate for travel.

Nord Stream 2

On May 31, it became known that Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel was going to send a delegation to Washington to discuss the disputable Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project.

Later, a member of the US House of Representatives, Republican Fred Keller, presented to his colleagues a bill that would restore sanctions on Russia's Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

And Russia plans to have the construction of Nord Stream 2 pipeline completed by the end of the year. President of Russia Vladimir Putin has also stated that the lying of the first line of the Nord Stream 2 has finished

Belarus

This week, Belarusian Lukashenko said that Russia would send modern weaponry to Belarus.

Ukraine’s President Zelensky said that the union of Russia, Belarus is dangerous for Ukraine.

Ukrainian official, Deputy Head of President's Office Kyrylo Tymoshenko said that the halt of air transit across Belarus can potentially add to Ukraine's incomes. Earlier, Ukraine closed its airspace for Belarusian planes on May 29. After that, Belarus stopped supply of A-95 gasoline to Ukraine and introduced licensing for number of goods from Ukraine. Later it was reported that Belarus would deliver about 10,000 tons of A-95 gasoline to Ukraine in June.

The US imposed sanctions against Belarus and stopped air traffic. Lukashenko met with Putin and complained on pressure from the West.

Rallies in support of Belarus were held in Europe. New fragment of Pratasevich's interrogation was published in Belarus.

Ukraine's Defense Secretary Danilov stated that seizure of Ryanair plane in Belarus has all signs of Russian special services operation. The Verkhovna Rada has supported regulation in which it urged the international parliaments to introduce the sanctions against President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko.

Ukraine also warned Belarus of sanctions in case of flights to Crimea.

Crimea

This week it was stated that the EU ambassadors will continue to ban investment in Crimea.

Russia stated that it lifted the water blockade in annexed Crimea. Meanwhile, the amount of water has reduced in the reservoirs of annexed Crimea.

Besides, Ukraine warned Belarus of sanctions in case of flights to Crimea.

Sports

 Dnipro city and Dnipro-Arena stadium hosted a friendly football game between the national teams of Ukraine and Northern Ireland. The match took place on June 3. The home team won 1-0; it was a nice warm-up for Ukraine before the start of EURO 2020.
