About Donbas conflict and other military affairs
The military action in eastern Ukraine goes on, with both sides taking casualties. Several Ukrainian warriors were wounded in combat over the week. OSCE SMM reported that Russian occupants attacked a residential quarter in Chermalyk, Donetsk region. Besides, three civilians suffered in the attack on Mariinka; a nine-year-old boy was wounded there.
President Zelensky urged Russia to stop the military action in Donbas. Later on, Ruslan Khomchak, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine claimed that there was no order to hold fire in return.
June 14, Ukraine paid a tribute to the 49 Ukrainian servicemen who died in the plane crash five years ago this day. The tragedy occurred next to Luhansk airfield, as Russian occupants fired an anti-aircraft missile, shooting down Ukraine’s Ilyushin IL-76 with the 49 men aboard.
As far as defense capability is concerned, test missile launches took place in Odesa region, southern Ukraine, as the military tested the modernized Vilkha MLRS. The launch proved successful.
Lithuania passed Ukraine almost 1,000,000 live ammunition rounds for the Soviet-era firearms. Lithuanian Defense Ministry reported this June 12. According to the military authority, the Lithuanian government decided to pass the ammunition in early February. The price of the passed assets makes 255,500 Euros.
About Nord Stream 2 and gas talks
U.S. President Donald Trump considers the possibility of imposing sanctions due to Nord Stream 2 construction. U.S. Senator John Barrasso introduced the draft law on the sanctions against Russia for gas pipeline.
On June 13, Ukraine, Russia and the European Commission have agreed to hold the trilateral negotiations on the Russian gas transit across Ukraine's territory after 2019.
On June 14, Naftogaz reported it will reduce gas price for the consumers under the PSO in June 7,3%.
About Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia
Ukrainian political prisoner Volodymyr Balukh has headaches and chest pain; he was transferred to the prisoner’s hospital in Tver region due to it.
Moreover, Ukrainian political prisoner Mykola Karpyuk stated he does not believe he will be able to stay in a Russian prison for 22 years. He believes if he is not released, he will die.
About Russian passports for Donbas residents
The EU leaders plan to make a decision during the summit on June 20-21, which states the non-recognition of the passports issued to the Ukrainian citizens by Russia.
However, Russia started to hand its passports over to the residents of the so-called DNR, Donetsk People's Republic.
About Crimean Tatars and Ukrainian sailors
At the beginning of the week, Russia-controlled court arrests another three Crimean Tatars up to August 5. It happened after the new searches among Crimean Tatars in Russian-occupied peninsula. EU urged Russia to release Crimean Tatars arrested in Crimea.
As for the Ukrainian sailors who are now illegally held at Lefortovo remand center, they have been reading a lot and learning foreign languages, as Iryna Gerashchenko, the Vice Speaker of the Parliament reported on June 13.
At the same time, Ukrainians began to collect signatures under the petition, in which they ask President Volodymyr Zelensky to assist in the rescue campaign for the sailors detained in Libya in 2017.
About Zelensky's appoints and dismissals
This week, Zelensky canceled two Poroshenko's decrees on appointments to High Council of Justice, dismissed 13 governors and appointed a new chairmen, appointed Abromavičius as member of Ukroboronprom observatory council, and Vladyslav Bukhariev became head of Foreign Intelligence Service. He also dismissed Security Service heads in Ukraine's five regions.

Russian Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre and Cartography (RosReestr) claimed that the decision of the U.S. Council of Geographic Names Authorities about change of spelling from Kiev to Kyiv is not obligatory to fulfill. “The U.S. Council of Geographic Names Authorities spreads it activity exclusively on the territory of the U.S.,” the Rosreestr stated. The service emphasized that the U.S. decision on the spelling of the capital of Ukraine is not obligatory or recommendatory for the cartography services of other countries, including Russia. The said decision was made last month when the U.S. Council ruled to change the official spelling of the Ukrainian capital from “Kiev” to “Kyiv” in the international base.
Ukraine's national team hosted the squad from Luxembourg in the game of UEFA Euro 2020 qualification. A bit nervous game resulted in a minimal victory of the Yellow-Blues; Roman Yaremchuk scored the only goal in the game. Thus, the Ukrainian team continues to lead the way in Group B of the qualification for UEFA Euro 2020.
