About Donbas conflict

Ukrainian soldier Vladyslav Loktionov died in Joint Forces Operation zone, as the department of veterans’ social protection of Dnipro City Council reported. The man died on July 7 because of shrapnel wounds. He served in the 92nd Detached Mechanized Brigade, he also was a soldier of grenade launcher platoon.

Vitaliy Markiv, the fighter of the National Guard of Ukraine was sentenced to 24 years behind the bars in Italy. The Italian court found him guilty in killing an Italian photographer in Donbas conflict zone.

The UN claimed that five million residents of Ukraine’s eastern regions are suffering from the ongoing armed conflict; Kate Gilmore, United Nations Deputy High Commissioner for Human Rights, said that as the website of the organization reported.

About political prisoners and Crimean Tatars

Ukrainian political prisoner Yevhen Panov was examined by the doctors and prescribed glasses for him.

Besides, gravely ill political prisoner in Crimea Edem Bekirov suffers from pneumonic fever - another disease in his already tough condition.

On July 12, lawyer reported that Oleg Sentsov works on new stories and novels in the Russian jail.

Moreover, about 50 Crimean Tatars detained for participation in a rally in Moscow. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry protested against mass detention. Later, all of them were released.

About a new Electoral Code

On July 11, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted a new Election Code, which provides the right of a voter to influence the place of the candidate in the party list. Later it was stated that the new code might be politicking.

About Sea Breeze drills, NATO and Ukrainian sailors

The Sea Breeze 2019 drills started in Odesa on July 1. USS Carney entered Black Sea waters for the drills. Russia’s Black Sea Fleet decided to hold drills amid NATO Sea Breeze 2019. Russian guided missile destroyer illegally entered the closed area of drills. After that, Russia denied violation of Sea Breeze borders.

As for Ukrainian sailors held in Russia, the Kremlin said there were no talks on this. At the same time, Russia finished investigative actions toward one more Ukrainian sailor.

It was also reported that NATO North Atlantic Council would visit Ukraine in October.

About NewsOne telecast with Russian channel

A true scandal took place this week, as NewsOne TV channel and Russia 24 TV channel came up with the idea to hold the telecast dubbed "We Need To Talk". The initiative outraged many citizens of Ukraine, and the most radical activists gathered a rally with smoke pellets near NewsOne's building. They demanded to cancel the telecast with Russian propagandist TV channel. The management of the Ukrainian medium decided to cancel the telecast. President Zelensky judged the idea of holding such telecast, too.

National TV and Radio Broadcasting Council of Ukraine said it would check the NewsOne's broadcasting license.

The channel defends itself, claiming it stands for a "variety of views" and telling truth to its audience.

About military parade on Independence Day

President Zelensky said there would not be a military parade on Independence Day this year. Whereas Parliament Speaker Andriy Parubiy urged citizens to honor Ukrainian warriors on Independence Day.

Ukraine-EU summit and Donald Tusk

21st Ukraine-EU summit started in Kyiv on July 8. Meanwhile, Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze was not admitted to the summit.

Besides, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky made a number of statements, particularly, he provided statement to the Donbas militants, gas agreements with Russia.

Moreover, President of the European Council Donald Tusk participated in the summit. Before he visited Stanytsia Luhanska. Tusk call all Ukrainian heroes and said that Minsk Agreements should be fulfilled by both sides.

The term for the negotiations expired on June 15. Now, Serhiy Derevyanchenko and Gennadiy Golovkin might fight for the vacant belt.
