About Donbas conflict

Kyiv's representatives have cancelled agreements about sharing information on the wanted individuals with the so-called Luhansk People's Republic (LNR). This resulted in a delay of possible prisoners exchange for an unknown period of time. RIA Novosti agency reported that, quoting Olga Kobtseva, the leader of LNR workgroup for exchange of prisoners.

Russia doesn't need a frozen conflict in eastern Ukraine, as TASS reported citing Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of Russia Dmitriy Kozak. 

At a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on the appeal of the Ukrainian side, security guarantees were immediately established to eliminate fires. Thus, it will be possible to attract civilian aircraft near the demarcation line to extinguish fires in Luhansk region.

Workers of the State Security Service (SBU) of Ukraine detained an agent of Russian special service, the FSB; he was going to conduct a terrorist act on a critical infrastructure object.

Office of Prosecutor General of Ukraine registered a criminal proceeding due to participation of French mercenaries in Donbas conflict. These people sided with irregular forces of pro-Kremlin militants.

About coronavirus

As of July 10, 52,043 Covid-19 cases registered in Ukraine. 5,990 of the cases observed in Kyiv. Meanwhile, Ukraine is prepared for the second wave of the Covid-19. Besides, only 35% of cases of coronavirus infection were observed in Ukraine, so the number of infected people could reach 150,000.

The scientists all over the world wrote a letter to the WHO that it underestimates the spread of the coronavirus by air and urges to reconsider its recommendations. Later, the WHO reminded that the rate of coronavirus spread across the world is still hastening, and most of the countries don't have control over it yet.

About fire in Luhansk

The large-scale fire started in Luhansk region on July 7. Due to the fire, five people died and 34 people were hospitalized. Currently, the rescuers continue to extinguish the glow nests.

The investigation provided a few inquiry lines including arson and shelling of militants. Besides, the fire was determined as an emergency of the regional level, a natural disaster that could develop into an emergency of the national level.

About Crimea

On July 7, Crimean Tatars' houses were raided in Crimea, six people were apprehended. Officers of Russia's law enforcement bodies started conducting searches in the premises of the Crimean Tatars located in different parts of the annexed Crimea.

EU condemned systemic human rights violations in annexed Crimea. Later, U.S. Treasury Department fined Amazon for supplying goods to annexed Crimea.

In addition, Joint Forces Operation Commander reported that Russia keeps 32,500 military in Crimea.

About recordings of conversations of Biden and Poroshenko

On June 9, Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach released the third part of the recordings of the phone talks between Ukraine’s fifth president Petro Poroshenko and former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden.

The parties discussed a number of topics: sabotage operation in Crimea (2016), Trump’s decision to bring Paul Manafort on his team, etc.

Derkach also released a record of Poroshenko’s conversation with Russia’s President Vladimir Putin dated back to 2015. It turned out to be a sweet discussion with lots of laughter and congratulations.

About PS752 case

On July 8, the Iranian side was still reluctant to negotiate with Ukraine about the payment of the compensations, as BBC reported citing Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin. The official also claimed that negotiations with Iran over the downed Boeing 737 will sooner or later lead to Ukraine filing a lawsuit to the UN International Court of Justice. For some reason, Terhan somehow changed its stance soon enough; on July 9, it claimed readiness to start bilateral negotiations on this case.

About borders, flights

This week, it was reported that EU considered three terms for borders opening – ban for entry may last until 2021.

About sports

A long-awaited boxing duel between Vasyl Lomachenko and Teofimo Lopez Jr. has been postponed once again: it is now scheduled to take place on October 3.

On July 8, Dynamo Kyiv FC and Vorskla Poltava FC met in the final match of the Ukrainian Cup. The teams showcased a competitive game, the result of which was decided by a series of penalties.

A friendly match between the national football teams of Ukraine and Poland is now slated for November 11. It will be hosted by Silesian Stadium in Chorzow.
