About Donbas conflict

The Council of the European Union has decided to extend the economic sanctions against the Russian Federation for a further six months, until 31 January 2021.

Armed Forces of Ukraine plan to supply every army brigade in Donbas combat area with U.S. anti-tank missile launchers, the Javelins. Ruslan Khomchak, the Supreme Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces said so.

Russian mercenaries attacked Zaitseve, Donetsk region, which resulted in a lethal wound for local civilian, a retired woman.

About coronavirus

As of July 3, 46,763 cases of Covid-19 registered in Ukraine. 5,347 of them are observed in Kyiv. Besides, wife of Ukraine’s President, Olena Zelenska gradually recovers from the coronavirus.

Amid the increase in the number of infected, Ukraine’s government established fines for not wearing facial masks in public places.

UN Security Council approved a resolution providing for an immediate ceasefire in all armed conflicts and for a humanitarian pause in connection with the coronavirus pandemic. Besides, the WHO warned about the acceleration of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moreover, Japan proceeded to clinic trial of DNA-vaccine against coronavirus.

Meanwhile, British scientists identified a new strain of flu in China that has the potential to become a pandemic.

About flights

Kyiv international airport reports gradual cutting of the staff so as to avoid bankruptcy. The press office of the airport informed the publicity about this on Tuesday.

Austria has extended the ban for flights from Ukraine until July 15 due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation. The proper decision was made by the Health Ministry of Austria.

On July 1, Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air opened a second base in Ukraine with a location at the Lviv Danylo Halytskyi International Airport.

About floods

Over the last few weeks, Ukraine has been dealing with floods in the Western regions: 202.5 km of roads and 95 bridges are destroyed while 453 basements and 433 residential yards remain deluged.

That is why the Red Cross has decided to provide Ukraine with humanitarian assistance. Israel has not stood aloof as well, sending 25,000 1.5-liter bottles of drinking water to the victims of the floods in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions.

Meanwhile, State Emergence Service of Ukraine warns about a threat of the flooding of the Odesa-Reni highway.

About Ukraine's National Bank Chairman resignation

June 1, head of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Yakiv Smoliy wrote and submitted to the President of Ukraine a letter of resignation of his own free will.

The ambassadors of the G7 states, commenting on the news that the Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine Yakiv Smoliy is resigning, pointed to the threat of undermining the independence of the financial regulator.

The International Monetary Fund expects Ukraine to maintain the independence of the National Bank (NBU) following the resignation of governor Yakiv Smoliy

The EU claims that the resignation of Yakiv Smoliy, the Head of National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) is a "worrying signal". The Union stands for independent role of the National Bank.

Verkhovna Rada supported the resolution on dismissal of Yakiv Smoliy from the position of the Chairman of the National Bank of Ukraine. 286 MPs voted for the decision.

About sports
