About Donbas and agreement of Trilateral Contact Group on ceasefire

Russian mercenaries mutilated the body of Ukrainian combat medic who perished in Donbas.

Ukraine and Russia agreed on a full and comprehensive ceasefire in Donbas; the representatives in Minsk talks group signed the respective document on July 23. President Zelensky offered that France and Germany, as the Normandy Four member countries, sign it, too.

The trilateral contact group agreed on a simultaneous opening of two new entry-exit checkpoints in Donbas. The checkpoints in Zolote and Schastya (both in Luhansk region) are supposed to start working no later than November 10.

After one of attacks by Russian mercenaries, Siversky Donets-Donbas water pipeline took some damage. Workers of utility services reached the site to fix it.

About coronavirus

Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has distributed 2,3 billion dollars from the COVID-19 Acute Respiratory Disease Response Fund.

This week, Overall number of Covid- 19 cases in Ukraine exceeded 60,000.

About taking hostages in Lutsk

An armed man captured a bus with 20 passengers abroad. The terrorist act took place in Lutsk, northwestern Ukraine, on July 21. The criminal had an entire arsenal of weaponry with him. He also said that he wired the bus and that he left another bomb somewhere else in the city. People were held hostages for 12 hours, and the culprit initially refused to let them go or pass them food or water. Eventually, Maksym Kryvosh released the passengers and gave up. They detained him and took him to the court. The judge ruled that Kryvosh would be kept in custody for two months without the right for a bail.

About Nord Stream 2

The U.S. Senate has upheld the draft defense budget that includes sanctions against the Russian Federation. In this particular version, strategic competitiveness with Russia is of priority importance. The restrictions concern companies and individuals involved in the construction of Nord Stream II. The sanctions are applied to all construction works and the companies that provide underrating and insurance services for the vessels that participate in the works. The restrictions also concern companies that provide services for technologies upgrade.

About black boxes of PS752 flight

At the beginning of the week, France received black boxes of Ukrainian Boeing 737 that was shot down in Tehran this January.

Today, on June 24, the French Bureau of Enquiry and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety officially deciphered all the data from the flight recorders.

According to Ukraine’s Deputy Foreign Minister Yevhen Yenin, all the data from the deciphered black boxes confirmed the illegal interference in the work of the passenger airliner.

About incident in Poltava

On July 23, a man threatened police officers with grenade in Ukraine's Poltava. A policeman was taken hostage and special operation was carried out. Police allowed Poltava terrorist to leave city, as he heads towards Kyiv. Later, he was identified.

About sports 

Dynamo Kyiv FC decided to dismiss Oleksiy Mykhaylychenko from the post of the team's head coach. Romanian football coach Mircea Lucescu will now take over from him.

Ukrainian boxer Sergiy Derevyanchenko will challenge American Jermall Charlo for his WBC middleweight title. The fight will take place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, on September 26.

Ukrainian chess player Anna Ushenina triumphed at the FIDE Chess.com Women's Speed Chess Championship. She defeated Russian Alexandra Kosteniuk in the final match - 14.5-13.5.
