About PS 752 plane crash in Tehran
The most horrific tragedy In the history of Ukraine’s civilian aircraft shook Ukraine, Iran and the rest of the globe on January 8. Boeing 737 of Ukraine’s International Airlines crashed not far from Tehran, in the vicinities of Parand town in Iran. The jet took off on Wednesday morning; it was on its way to Kyiv, carrying 167 passengers and nine crew members. Soon after the takeoff, the aircraft crashed not far from Imam Khomeini international airport. No one survived the tragedy. The plane carried citizens of Iran, Canada, Ukraine, Sweden, Germany and Afghanistan.
The investigation commenced immediately. The Iranian authorities claim that the tragedy occurred due to the engine failure. The Ukrainian side roughly denied this information, saying that the plane was almost new.
Some of the Western governments and the media assumed that the jet’s engine was fine, and the aircraft could have been shot down by an anti-aircraft missile – most likely, fired from Russian SAM system Tor M-1 (SA-15 Gauntlet under NATO classification); after the recent attack on US military bases in Iraq, Iranian AA defense were still on read alert, which could result in an unauthorized shot. Canadian leader Justin Trudeau claimed that the plane was actually downed by a missile.
Iran bluntly denies the charges, offering to abstain from any statements before the official investigation is over, and the conclusions are revealed.
