Illicit enrichment

Ukraine's Constitutional Court recognized article on illicit enrichment unconstitutional. Ukraine’s President signed the bill and the parliament registered the bill already. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau believes that the decision of the Constitutional Court, which ruled unconstitutional the article of the Criminal Code on illicit enrichment, gives the officials an opportunity to abuse.

Political prisoners

This week, Ukraine’s Ombudsman Lyudmyla Denisova stated that Ukrainian political prisoners undertake violent treatment in occupied Donbas and Crimea.

One of them, Volodymyr Balukh, arrested on December 8, 2016, was sent to a colony in Tver region, Russia where prisoners undertake violent treatment.

“The reason for the transfer remains unknown, we will get information when Balukh arrives. Or, this information might be based on assumptions: Kerch colony wanted to get rid of “uncomfortable” prisoner and transferred him to another colony,” Denisova explained.
