The probability of the fail of the mission of Kurt Volker, the US Special Envoy to Ukraine is pretty high. Aleksey Chesnakov, the Director of Russia Center for Political Environment that is close to Vladislav Surkov, the affiliate of Vladimir Putin reported to TASS.
The expert commented on the contradictions between Volker and Surkov. According to Chesnakov, they lie in the conditions of the deployment of the UN peacekeepers in Donbas.

Hungary and Ukraine’s eeducation law
On December 6, 11 NATO countries criticized the attitude of Hungary on the issue of the education law of Ukraine and intention to block the rapprochement of Ukraine with NATO. In the letter, 11 NATO-members expressed the protest against the attitude of Budapest on the integration of Ukraine into the alliance.
The next day, just a day before the decision of the Venice Commission on the law, Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Ukraine, having adopted a new law on education, has violated its obligations before NATO, and therefore must revoke it. Szijjártó once again stressed that Hungary will not sacrifice the interests of Transcarpathian Hungarians in one geopolitical game.
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said that he has a pleasant discussion with Hungarian colleague Péter Szijjártó at the session of the Council of the Ministers of the OSCE in Europe and claimed that their joint task with Hungary is to support and help the citizens.
On December 8, the Venice Commission didn’t support Hungary’s accusations of infringement of ethnic minorities’ rights by the recently adopted education law in Ukraine, the Ministry of Education informed as they have already received the conclusions on the document from the commission. Even after that Hungary put two conditions towards the regulation of the situation on the law 'On education'.
