About Donbas conflict and Wagner PMC

Russian mercenaries not only continue to breach the ceasefire in Donbas; they also conduct military drills, choosing the artillery targets on Ukraine-controlled territory.

The next round of prisoners exchange in Donbas could take place in the coming weeks. Andriy Yermak, Head of the Office of President of Ukraine said so in an interview.

Ukraine works on the development of the ambitious economic strategy for Donbas. The road map of this strategy might be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers in September, Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said.

Russia is trying to prove that the demand of a special status of governance in Donbas is stipulated in the text of Minsk agreements. Actually, it's not true, says Leonid Kravchuk, Ukraine's first president and the head of its delegation in Minsk talks group.

Vitold Fokin, the first Prime Minister of independent Ukraine accepted the offer to work in Minsk trilateral contact group that seeks to end Donbas conflict.

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko states that another unit of Wagner private military company has been developed in the southern region of the country. "Today, we got a word about another unit that was deployed in the south. So instead of collecting the harvest, we should be chasing them in the woods. We'll catch them all", he said. The Belarusian leader promised to extradite apprehended Wagner PMC militants to Ukraine.

About Covid-19

As of August 7, 78,261 Covid-19 cases were registered in Ukraine. 9,178 cases observed in Kyiv. Besides, Covid-19 claimed 700,000 lives worldwide; while the number of infected increases globally. However, less than 10% of the world population got through coronavirus. The outbreak of the virus was also spotted at two cruise ships.

Ukraine expects the second wave of coronavirus infection from October 2020 up to April 2021. However, it is predicted that Ukraine will obtain herd immunity in a year.

The border guards explained the rules of the entrance to Ukraine and the passing of the self-isolation for foreigners and stateless persons during the Covid-19 pandemic.

About Nord Stream 2

Polish Office of Competition and Consumer Protection fined Russian Gazprom Company for $57 million as it did not get the permission necessary for the construction of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

Meanwhile, the German environmental organization disputes the permission for work of Nord Stream 2.

Earlier, Ukraine and Poland reached a consensus on the harm of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to Europe's energy security and agreed to prevent its establishment.

About Beirut explosion 

The tragedy that took place in Beirut this week, naturally, put the city and the whole Lebanon in the spotlight. The devastating explosions ruined the city’s infrastructure – both civilian and governmental objects, not to mention the death toll of more than 150 people. Thousands of civilians, including several Ukrainian citizens, were injured. The authority ruled out the option of a nuclear blast, stating it was the explosion of saltpeter stored in the seaport of Beirut. In the matter of days after the tragedy, anti-government protests began in Lebanon, as angry people blamed the officials with a failure to act to prevent the incident.

About Lublin triangle

The Foreign of Lithuania, Poland, and Ukraine officially established a new political platform - “Lublin Triangle.

It is expected to be multi-dimensional, focusing inter alia on defense, energy, and financial cooperation.

The next meeting of the format will be hosted by Ukraine. Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba invited his Belarusian counterpart, Vladimir Makei, to join the meeting in Kyiv as an honored guest. The idea was most likely debated ahead of time by the Lublin Triangle ministers.
