About Donbas conflict

Parties to the Minsk talks group agreed that four new areas will be designated for disengagement of forces.

Colonel of Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and ex-Border Guard have been busted with moving the ammunition out of Donbas combat zone.

Russian special services have been spreading misleading information about the disruption of a special operation by Ukraine's Security Service (SBU), the state security service. The Russian side claims that Ukrainian operatives tried to capture a militant in the Donbas combat zone.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky included first Prime Minister of independent Ukraine Vitold Fokin in the composition of the Ukrainian delegation at the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbas.

About Belarus protests

The government of the Republic of Belarus has resigned to the newly elected president. The Resolution of the Council of Ministers dated August 15, No. 480.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he does not intend to hold repeated elections in the country. He announced this at a meeting with employees of the Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant (MZKT factory

Members of the European Parliament do not recognize the results of presidential election in Belarus. They released a joint statement, according to which, incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko is considered persona non grata in the EU.

The Office of the President of Ukraine is studying the impact of the events in Belarus on Ukraine and evaluating all possible scenarios for the further development of internal political aggravation in the neighboring country

In Belarus, 158 people were hospitalized with bodily injuries after detentions.

At least five people died in the results of the clashes with law enforcers during the protests.

After clashes, seven people are in a critical state. 120 people with varying degrees of severity are hospitalized.

The HQ of the united Belarusian opposition plans to finish the formation of the coordinating council for the transfer of power in Belarus

It is noted that 70 people would enter the council.

Opposition presidential candidate Svetlana Tsikhanouskaya called on workers of large enterprises in Belarus to continue and expand strikes

About coronavirus 

China reports registering its first vaccine against coronavirus.

It is stated that the application for the patent was filed in March but it was approved only now. The patent is issued by the National Intellectual Property Administration.

The drop in Covid-19 mortality in Europe is tied with the spread of the new mutation of coronavirus.

Herd immunity would not be able to overcome the coronavirus.

The WHO noted that the world community needs to look for extra measures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus.

Muslim Aliev, the political prisoner in Russia has been infected with the coronavirus.

According to her, Aliev is illegally held in remand center No.1 of Russia's Federal Penitentiary Service (Bashkortostan, Russia).

The number of people infected with Covid-19 in Ukraine is already bigger than 100,000

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky claimed that his son had coronavirus. As of Early August 21, the boy successfully recovered. He was treated at the same hospital with his mother, the first lady Olena Zelenska

About Trump and Russia

The U.S. Senate's Intelligence Committee continues to investigate the links between President Trump's 2016 election campaign members and Russian business and political circles. What especially turned their attention at some point was the close cooperation of campaign leader Paul Manafort and Konstantin Kilimnik. The Washington Post came up with a story on this issue. The Committee's report claims that Konstantin Kilimnik is a "Russian intelligence officer (...) born in Ukraine but attended a military language institute in Moscow from 1987 to 1992 during the collapse of the Soviet Union". Interestingly, Manafort's lawyer refrains from any comments. 

About Ukrainian cinema

Ukraine's 'My Thoughts Are Silent' movie joins contest program of Beijing International Film Festival.

Ukrainian film about Donbas Atlantis got to long list of ‘European Oscar’ - European Film Academy Award (EFA).

It was also reported that Ukraine is shooting ‘Me, Pobeda, and Berlin’ film based in singer Kuzma's autobiographical book.

In addition, Netflix plans to shoot one of its next films in Ukraine.
