Belarus continues to protest against the official results of last Sunday's presidential election.
Earlier, Central Election Commission announced the election results, according to which incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko wins the first round with a result of slightly more than 80% of the vote. His main opponent, oppositionist Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya received only 10.09% of the vote.
A lot of Belarusians did not accept such election results and took it out on the streets of cities with protests.

Three people died in the protests, a lot of them were detained and tortured, journalists started to resign, security forces used special means against protesters. Belarus industries also go on mass strikes.
A Ukrainian military man sustained lethal wounds in an explosion, as he stepped on an explosive device in Donbas combat area on August 13.
The Central Election Committee does not rule out that local elections in Ukraine-controlled areas of Donbas could actually take place. This is mentioned in the message by the Committee's press service. For this to happen, civil and military administrations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions should provide new conclusions on this matter; these bodies have the authority to make conclusions, based on which the Committee approves the elections in these specific areas. "Security situation could change, and if the Committee gets new conclusions (...) before the electoral process in the regular local elections begins, the elections could take place on October 25, 2020".
About Sheremet case
On August 11, the restriction measure was changed for one of the main suspect at Sheremet’s murder case – Yulia Kuzmenko; she will stay under round-the-clock house arrest.
The next day, another suspect Andriy Antonenko was left in the custody.
It was specified that the mass celebrations during weddings facilitate the increase of a new number of Covid-19 cases. Besides, the imprisonment places remain to be the sources of the Covid-19 spread in Ukraine.
Moreover, the growth of new cases of coronavirus infection up to 2,000 and growth of deaths up to 40-50 per day is possible in Ukraine. Health Minister also announced that Ukraine might face the second Covid-19 wave in October or November.
Meanwhile, President of Russia Vladimir Putin reported that the first vaccine against coronavirus was registered in Russia. However, the U.S. criticized the Russian vaccine. Moreover, the WHO intends to analyze information about clinical trials of the vaccine as it doubts its safety and efficiency.
A game of UEFA Europa League quarterfinal was played in Germany, as Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Basel were struggling for the right to carry on to the semifinals. The Ukrainian team made it to semifinals, beating the Swiss (4-1). Now, Castro's squad will stand against Inter. The semifinal game of the UEFA Europa League will be played in Dusseldorf on August 17.
