Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Lavreniuk informed that the Security Service of Ukraine detained Vakhtang Dzhakeli, Deputy Head of one of the Ukrainian Railways departments, for receiving a $70,000 bribe, according to his post on Facebook.
“A few hours ago SBU detectives detained Vakhtang Dzhakeli, Deputy Head of one Ukrainian Railways departments, red-handed on receiving an unlawful benefit of $70,000 for solving the issue of employment on one of the key positions in the Ukrainian Railways.” Lavreniuk wrote.
According to him, the official was to receive $300,000 in total. Lavreniuk also noted that previously Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian insisted that Dzhakeli had to be fired.
