Out of 37 000 hospital beds that are available in Ukraine, 20 000 are currently occupied, and the situation with the coronavirus raises concerns in the Ministry of Health. This was stated by the head of the Ministry Maxym Stepanov, reports RBK Ukraine.
We cannot give all the beds for COVID-19 patients. We can take only 30% of the total beds, because we have heart attacks, we have strokes, we have childbirth. We can take more hospitals from Ukrzaliznytsia and the National Academy of Sciences", said Stepanov.
According to him, in total, the Ministry of Health plans to increase the number of hospital beds to 51 thousand.
On October 3, Stepanov reported that 16 076 people are in hospitals with coronavirus. This means that the occupancy of hospitals in Ukraine is about 53.9%.
The Ministry of Health of Ukraine is preparing an experimental drug for Covid-19 treatment. This was announced by the Minister of Health of Ukraine Maksym Stepanov on Friday, October 9.
Stepanov noted that the drug will be produced from blood plasma with antibodies to Covid-19.
"Such plasma will be transferred to drug manufacturers. In case of successful clinical trials, the drug will be used to treat people suffering from Covid-19 in serious condition," the Minister said.
