Health Ministry allows Moderna and Pfizer vaccines combination

The Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine has allowed the combination of Moderna and Comirnaty/Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health in Telegram.

“If the first vaccination is given with Moderna vaccine, the second can be done with Comirnaty/Pfizer-BioNTech and vice versa,” the statement reads.

The ministry said that if a mRNA vaccine from the same manufacturer is not available, a vaccine on a mRNA platform from another manufacturer can be used for the second vaccination. At the same time, the department notes that the combination of Moderna and Comirnaty/Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines is safe and effective.

The interval between the first and second doses will be 28 days.

As it was reported earlier, 122 906 people were vaccinated against coronavirus in Ukraine on September 16. Since the beginning of the vaccination campaign a total of 11 million 229 thousand 595 vaccinations were carried out in Ukraine as of September 16.
