Heads of Ukraine's law enforcement bodies to meet G7 diplomats to explain staging of Babchenko's murder

The Prosecutor General is sure that the diplomacy will adopt a position 'Russia should be punished'

The heads of the Prosecutor General Office of Ukraine (GPU) and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) will meet the diplomats of the G7 on June 1 to explain the staging of the murder of Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko. Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko claimed this as reported.

'The GPU, along with the SBU and other officers involved in the case will meet the diplomats of G7. We will explain everything possible within the secrecy of the prosecution. I am sure that the diplomacy will adopt a position announced by the U.K. diplomatic service: 'the country should defend itself and Russia should be punished', Lutsenko said.

On May 29 it was reported that Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist, was murdered in Kyiv. He was allegedly shot in his apartment. Ukraine’s police suggested that the murder of the journalist was connected with his professional activity. There were also reports on Russia’s connection.

Vasyl Hrytsak, the Head of SBU, at the briefing stated that the murder of Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko was ordered by Russian special forces. Ukrainian citizen was enlisted for that.

On May 31, the suspected in the organization of Babchenko's murder was detained for two months without a right for the bail.

Earlier President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko claimed that he knew about the staging of Babchenko's murder. At the same time, the OSCE has condemned the fact that Ukrainian institutions spread fake information on the “murder” of Arkadiy Babchenko, a Russian journalist.
