In order to regain control over the Donbas border, it is important for Ukraine to consolidate its efforts at the international level, and also to cooperate with the OSCE. This was stated by the head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine Petro Tsyhykal after the meeting with the head of OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan, the department press service reported.
It is noted that during the meeting the heads of Ukraine’s border department and the OSCE monitoring mission in Ukraine, the prospects for bilateral cooperation and the situation in the Donbas conflict zone were discussed.
"During the meeting, Petro Tsyhykal stressed that the Ukrainian side highly appreciates the work of the experts and the leadership of the OSCE SMM and the level of the achieved trust, and also summed up the results of bilateral cooperation and interaction at the central, local levels and in the east of Ukraine," the message says.
The head of the Border Guard Service noted that Ukraine needs to regain control over the border in Donbas and restore sovereignty. To do this, it is extremely important to establish cooperation with international organizations, including the OSCE.
"The frontier department faces an extremely difficult and responsible task - to regain control over the border and the territorial integrity of the country, and this issue usually requires the consolidation of significant efforts, both at the national and international levels," he said.
As it was reported earlier over the last 24 hours, Russian mercenaries stepped up their efforts in attacking Ukrainian positions in Donbas. In the evening, enemy opened fire on living quarters in Zaitsevo. Avdiivka, held by Ukrainian forcers, came under RPG and small arms fire.
One of Ukrainian servicemen was fatally wounded as he stepped on a landmine; it happened during the mine-clearing works in Bohdanivka, Luhansk region.
