The head of the ammunition depot near Ichnia, Chernihiv region, was dismissed a month or a month and a half ago due to the absence of the holding of the counter-subversive events. Prosecutor General of Ukraine, Yury Lutsenko claimed this as 112.ua reported.
“The detachments of the Special Assignments Forces held the mastering of all depots all over Ukraine in August on the readiness to anti-subversive tasks. On the results of these training, Head of Ichnia ammunition depot was demoted from his position to the reserve, without the terminal payments,” Lutsenko said.
According to him, the head of the armouries was dismissed month or month and a half ago.
“The counter-subversive activity was absent there as the inner work of the Defense Ministry and General Staff witnessed. They really established it and as a result, the head was dismissed. It took place a month or month and a half ago,” he added.
Reportedly, an explosion on the sixth armoury occurred in Ichnia, Chernihiv region, on October 9.
The air-space within 30 km is shut down, traffic and railway movement are stopped due to the emergency situation.
Ukraine’s Defence Ministry reports that as of 7 am, October 9, the intensity of the explosions was 2-3 explosions per second.
Reportedly, the Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Central Region opened a criminal proceeding on the case of explosions on the ammunition depot in Ichnia.
Later the State Emergency Service reported that over 12,000 people were evacuated from Ichnia and the adjacent localities within the radius of 16 kilometers. Blasts of various degree of intensity are still heard there. Currently, ten demining groups were working on the territory of the ammunition depot. They have cleared 70% of the administrative territory. Many local residents come back to their homes.
