Prosecutor General Office wants all the involvants in Handziuk’s case to take a lie detector test, as Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko said at a briefing on February 11. 112 Ukraine broadcasted the event.
“We intend to check all the main involvants, including the witnesses and suspects, by a lie detector test. Probably, this is the only way to avoid political chaos, which is being prepared by different sides,” Lutsenko said.
Earlier, the Chairman of Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Manger said he would not escape from the country due to suspicion of organizing the murder of Kherson Mayor Advisor Kateryna Handziuk
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko stated that the Head of Kherson Regional Council Mangera was served with charge papers concerning organizing the murder of Handziuk.
On November 4, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause for the death of Handziuk was specified. It was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
Handiuk's murder evoked a huge public outrage, with people demanding to find the orderer of the murder.
28 January, her father Viktor Handziuk issued a statement in which he said that he suspected three people of having organized his daughter’s killing. He identified both the three high-ranking officials and the parties they were affiliated with, these being Manger, from Tymoshenko’s Batkivshchyna, the Head of the Kherson Regional Administration Andriy Hordeyev and his Deputy, Yevhen Ryshchuk, both of whom are from the Bloc of (President and presidential candidate) Petro Poroshenko.
