Pechersk District Court of Kyiv granted the motion of the prosecutor and extended the arrest of Head of Kherson Regional Council Vladyslav Manger, the suspect in the order and organization of the attack on activity Kateryna Handziuk until September 11, 2020, as the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
Earlier, Kyiv Appeal Court also recognized the restrictive measure in the form of the detention in custody to be legal and deny in the meeting of the appeal claims of his lawyers.
The term of the detention in custody of another suspect in the organization of the attack on Kateryna Handziuk – Oleksiy Levin – was extended until August 24, 2020.
Besides, due to the delay of the suspects and their defense in the familiarization with the materials of the criminal case, the court granted the motion of the prosecutor and determined the time limit for a familiarization until July 24, 2020. Then, the Prosecutor General’s Office will file the indictment to the court.
As we reported earlier, the person of interest in the murder case of Kateryna Handziuk Vladyslav Manger filed a complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
“It is obvious that Ukraine got for the answer our appeal to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), which we filed last year. Finally, as I understand, it is communicated. Toward the fact that during a year a person is accused of a crime but the case is not passed to the court, no evidence provided,” Manger's lawyer Dmytro Ilchenko noted.
According to the investigation, Manger is suspected of instigating the attack on Handziuk, which led to her death, by prior agreement with Levin.
As we reported earlier, on November 4, 2018, it became known that Kateryna Handziuk died at the age of 34. She was doused with sulphuric acid in July this year. According to preliminary information, her death was caused by blood clot's detachment.
Besides, the doctors specified the cause of death; it was due to multiple organ failure and chemical burns.
