Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman explained what the emergency measures in the energy system of Ukraine will mean. The extraordinary government meeting was broadcast by "112 Ukraine" TV channel.
"We are imposing these measures and doing everything to prevent or minimize any blackouts. I want all citizens to understand this. This way, we will manage the system so that all negative consequences for Ukrainian citizens would be minimized. I want to stress that blackouts will happen only in extreme cases, and we will inform about that in advance. It is not the problem now. We will load everything to the maximum extent possible, which is not really good, as it is impossible to work at maximum all the time. But we will take all necessary measures. Me and my colleagues will pursue this matter 24 hours a day. I will do best I can to minimize any discomfort in any area of Ukraine. And I hope those who are involved in blockade will have enough common sense to restore a normal energy supply for our country," Groysman emphasized.
The decision, taken by the Cabinet of Ministers, was also commented on by Ihor Nasalyk, the Minister of Energy and Coal Mining of Ukraine. According to him, emergency measures in the state energy system will last one month with the possibility of extension for another one.
