No greetings exchange between President of Russia Vladimir Putin and President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko took place in 2014, RIA News reported citing Spokesperson of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
“I cannot confirm this fact to you,” Peskov said, answering the question of whether he could confirm or refute information that in 2014, Petro Poroshenko congratulated Putin on the Day of Russia.
“No exchange of messages of congratulations that provided by the protocol for such national holidays took place. It does not take place now, either, unfortunately,” he added.
Peskov also noted that he was not aware “about phone talks during which such congratulations might have sounded”.
As we reported, July 9, Ukrainian MP Andriy Derkach released new recordings of conversations of ex-president Petro Poroshenko. A conversation between Poroshenko with Russian President Vladimir Putin on April 30, 2015, is on one of the recordings. Poroshenko congratulated Putin on May 1. Both presidents laugh, exchange jokes. Putin said he would award the Hero of Labour medals. Poroshenko said he would reward veterans on the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War.
